Muscle shoal is the largest city in the Colbert County Alabama, United States. The city has an estimated population of 18000 people living in the city. Since 1960s the city has been known for music. It is in this place where the the “Muscle Shoals Sound”was created. It was the home of FAME studios in 1950s and Muscle Shoals sound studio in 1969. It is here where the history of popular music was shaped to date.
The Culture of Muscle Shoals
It sounds so odd that a place like Muscle Shoals produces a lot of great music but the fact of the matter is everyone in Muscle Shoals plays musical instruments and not only do they play it,they do it professionally. People in the city come together to play music no wonder their music culture has been there for generations. People here enjoy what they do, they play the instruments just for fun or work or both. This culture is a true prove of the saying which goes”practice makes perfect”and everything has been perfected here professionally. Here is a sample of the Muscle Shoals sound.
Recording Music Here
Most musicians from all over especially England came here to record their songs. with hit the billboards as the best top hit songs of the time and loved by many all over the world and most of the songs recorded at the Muscle Shoal studios still in the hearts of many and lips. Every musician those who are legends, young and those upcoming always dreamt of recording songs the studios at Muscle Shoals. Many music was recorded here.
Some of my favorite best hits of all time records that come out of the Muscle studios from rock and roll to soul hits:
Eddie Hinton- Cover me
He was a great guitarist of all time and my favorite. He play on most of the Muscle Shoal sessions with Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and others he always wrote great song lyrics which were about life. “Cover me” which was composed by him is one of my favorite love songs.
The Rolling Stones-Wild Horses
This is another song from Muscle Shoal studios which is my favorite. Though its an old song of 60s I still love its lyrics. This song is said to have been polished by one of Muscle Shoals own Jimmy Johnson who gave the song a touch of class.
The music culture is what has Muscle Shoals a famous place and a home many musicians and tourists who want just to have a real feel and a touch and enjoy life and learn about music .
